How do I book a cabin, camper, or the Main House?
Use the booking widget at the top of the homepage, call or text (605) 838-7953, or email lodging@hillsideresort.com. The Main House books direct — not via Airbnb or Vrbo. We confirm same-day during business hours.
What's the difference between the cabins, campers, and the Main House?
Cabins are dry — bunk beds, A/C, no indoor plumbing (you use the 24/7 bathhouse with private showers and laundry). Lakeside Cabin from $150/night, Bunkhouses from $125. Premium campers are travel trailers with full kitchens, queen masters, and private bathrooms, from $140. The Main House is the luxury option — sleeps 14, 3 BR + loft, 5 bath, hot tub, theater, private dock, from $625/night.
Do all rentals come with a golf cart?
Every cabin and camper booking includes a free golf cart for the duration of your stay. RV sites do not — but the marina, restaurants, and Sea Store are all within walking distance.
Are pets allowed?
Campers and RV sites are pet-friendly. Cabins are not at this time. Dogs on leash on the property; please clean up. Ask about the pet fee when you book.
When is the marina open?
Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day, daily 8am–8pm. Last return is 7:30pm so we can fuel and rinse before close. The BluMana runs sunset cruises and private charters throughout the season.
What's your check-in / check-out?
Cabins + campers + Main House: check-in 4pm, check-out 11am. Early check-in based on housekeeping schedule — ask when you book. RV sites: check-in anytime, check-out by noon.
Do you take walk-ins at the restaurants?
Hemingway's Hideaway (downstairs): always walk-in, no reservations needed. The Hillside Steakhouse (upstairs): reservations strongly recommended Friday + Saturday — call (605) 256-9558 or message us on Facebook. BluCabana: walk up to the dock bar, no reservations.
Is there a minimum stay?
Two nights on summer weekends (Fri–Sun). One night otherwise. Three-night minimum on Memorial Day, July 4th, and Labor Day weekends.
Are there long-stay discounts?
Yes — Stay & Save auto-applies on cabin and camper bookings: 10% off 7+ nights, 25% off 14+, 50% off 30+.
How far is the property from Sioux Falls?
45 miles. Roughly an hour drive via I-90 east to SD-34 north. We're 9 miles southeast of Madison.
What's the cancellation policy?
Full refund for cancellations 7+ days before arrival. 50% refund 3–6 days before. No refund within 48 hours of arrival, but we'll reschedule one time at no charge.
What's at the Sea Store across the street?
Groceries, beer, bait, fuel, propane, ATM, on-site casino machines, soft-serve cones, and Hillside-branded apparel. Same family owns the store and the resort — charge purchases to your room at checkout. Open early, close late: Sun 8a–9:30p, Mon–Thu 7a–9:30p, Fri–Sat 7a–11p.
